Propositions and Approvals

Crewlist propositions let one user suggest a seafarer for a vessel position and another user review that suggestion before it becomes an approved assignment.

Use this workflow when a seafarer looks suitable for a crewlist position, but the final decision must be confirmed by another user or team.

Basic Flow

The usual flow has three steps:

  1. Add a planned assignment item to the open assignment cart.

  2. Open the application and propose the seafarer for that cart item.

  3. Review the proposed assignment on the crewlist and approve or cancel it.

The exact buttons you see depend on your permissions, the current organization, and the pools connected to the application and vessel.

Open Assignment Cart

The open assignment cart is a temporary planning list for positions that still need a seafarer. You can add an item from a crewlist position when you know the planned embarkation date and planned duration.

After the item is added, open the application for the seafarer you want to propose. The cart is shown on the application page while it contains items. Each row describes the target vessel position and planned dates.

Proposing a Seafarer

Use the propose action in the cart row to open the Propose dialog.

The dialog contains:

  • an optional comment;

  • a propose date;

  • Save and Cancel actions;

  • a help icon in the title bar that opens this page.

Save creates a proposed assignment for the selected application and cart item. The proposal then appears in crewlist assignment workflows where it can be reviewed.

Reviewing and Approving

Open the crewlist for the vessel connected to the proposed assignment. Proposed assignments appear in the planned crew area in the live crewlist when your permissions allow you to see them. Select a specific crewlist date only when you need to review the table as of that date.

Open the assignment dialog to review the proposal. The available next actions depend on the assignment status and your permissions. A typical review can approve the proposal, move it to the next operational status, or cancel it when it should not continue.

If more than one seafarer was proposed for the same crewlist position slot, the dialog can show Cancel Other while you review one of those proposals. This lets you approve or continue with the selected candidate and cancel the competing proposals in the same save action. Select the candidates to cancel, enter the cancellation date and comment, then save the dialog.

When you save the assignment dialog, Crewlap updates the assignment history. If the assignment is approved, the application remains linked to the vessel through the assignment-created vessel pool. That pool link is read-only on the application page and is changed by assignment actions, not by the manual pool editor.

Notes and Comments

Use proposal comments and assignment notes to record why a seafarer was proposed, approved, or cancelled. Notes are useful when another user opens the same application or crewlist later and needs the business context.

See Crewlist Management for finding the crewlist and opening reports.

See Assignment Dialog for assignment dates, statuses, and event history.

See Applications for the application page, pools toolbar, notes, and CV sections.
