Organization Management
Organizations define the top-level administrative boundary in Crewlap. Use this page to create organization records, review their basic details, and manage which back-office users belong to an organization.
Organization List
Open Organizations from the administration menu to see all organizations available to your account.
The list shows each organization's key and name. Use the column filters to narrow the table:
Key filters from the beginning of the organization key.
Organization Name filters by any part of the name.
Use the plus button in the panel header to create a new organization. Use the pencil button on a row to open an existing organization.
General Info
The General Info section stores the organization identity shown across the back office.
When creating an organization:
Open Organizations.
Click the plus button.
Open the General Info dialog with the pencil button.
Enter the organization Key, Name, and Description.
If seafarer self-registration should place new applications into an office pool, enter the Domain and choose a Default Pool.
Click Save.
The Key is the unique technical identifier of the organization. It may contain only uppercase letters and digits. You can enter it manually while creating the organization, or leave it empty to let Crewlap generate one. After the organization is created, the key becomes read-only.
The Name is required and is the human-readable organization name. The Description is optional and can be used for internal context.
The Domain is optional. Use the host name that seafarers use to open the public registration site for this organization, for example lap.demo.bug.guru. Do not include https://, a port, or a path. Crewlap stores the domain in lowercase, and one domain can belong to only one organization.
The Default Pool is optional and is selected from the organization's enabled manual office pools. When a seafarer self-registers from a matching domain, Crewlap links the new application to this default pool. Leave the field empty if self-registered applications should not receive an automatic office-pool link.
If the required pool is not available in the Default Pool list, create or enable it first in Pool Management, then return to the organization and select it.
After saving, Crewlap keeps you on the organization view page. Return to the organization list and filter by the key or name to find the newly created organization.
Users
The Users section lists back-office users assigned to the organization. From this section administrators can add existing users, enable or disable organization membership, and grant organization administrator access.
User membership workflows are separate from the organization General Info workflow. If an organization was just created, save its General Info first; user-management actions become available after the organization exists.
Organization User Dialogs
Use Add User to Organization to select an existing global user and add that user to the organization. If the person does not exist yet, use Create New to open User Administration and create the global user account first.
Use Organization User to review the linked user and change whether the membership is enabled for this organization. Disabling the membership keeps the row visible, but the user cannot work in the organization through that membership.
Use Make Admin when the user should receive the administrator permissions that are currently assigned through this workflow. The action is additive: it can be used again later if new administrator permissions are introduced and the user needs those missing permissions.
Detailed account fields are managed on the User Administration page.
