Position Management
Positions define which ranks are planned for a vessel. They are used by crew lists and assignment planning.
Positions List
Open Management | Positions to view planned vessel positions.
Use the column filters to search by company, vessel group, vessel, position key, rank, or count values. Click the pencil action, or double-click a row, to open the position card.
Use the plus action in the list header to create a new position. In General Info, select the company, vessel group, vessel, and a rank. The same rank should be used only once for an active position on the same vessel.
Position Card
The position card includes:
General Info: enabled state, company, vessel group, vessel, generated key, and rank.
Details: budgeted total, MSMC count, additional count, and description.
The position key is generated from the fleet context and rank after the position is saved.
Use Jump to Crew List on the position card to open the crewlist for the vessel connected to that position.
Details Counts
Use Details to maintain planning counts and description text.
Budgeted total is the number of positions planned in the vessel budget for this rank. MSMC means the number of positions required by the Minimum Safe Manning Certificate. MSMC positions are included in the budgeted total.
Use MSMC positions to enter how many budgeted positions are mandatory for safe manning. MSMC cannot be greater than the budgeted total. The remaining budgeted positions appear in the crewlist as B positions. MSMC positions appear as M positions.
Additional count is used for extra non-budget positions. These positions appear in the crewlist as A positions.
The position card and the Details dialog show a Slot preview with colored M, B, and A badges. Use it to check the resulting crewlist slots while viewing the position and before saving changes.
Use the description for operational notes about the position requirements, rotation expectations, or planning context.
Creating From A Vessel
When you create a position from a vessel card, Crewlap opens the position form with company, vessel group, and vessel already selected. You only need to choose the rank and save.
